Truer and wiser words have never been spoken. There is a senior paralegal at my firm whom everyone thinks is off her rocker, but seriously, if you’ve worked there for that long, you’d probably be crazy as well. Anyway, this lady is the sweetest thing ever and in addition to all her advice about the legal profession, I think her best one so far has been the above quote.
“You can’t grow old with an asshole”.
Seriously, if you can’t stand the person you’re with right now because he’s being rude and obnoxious can you just imagine what it would be like 30 years from now? How about 40? 50? 60? And you know what, he’s not going to get any better. If he’s terrible now, he’s going to continue to be terrible. Drop it like it’s hot. And by it, I mean the relationship.
On to the next topic, this book is an absolute must-read for anyone in their 20s or even 30s. It’s called “Last One Down the Aisle Wins”. It’s essentially a guide to living life to the fullest when you’re young and not chained down to let’s say… a husband, kids, a mortgage… It has truly inspired me. You can buy it here. So as a result, I gave notice last Friday. In February, I’ll be leaving this wonderful city for France for 2 1/2 months then onto China for another few months, then to start law school. It wasn’t the book that gave me the idea, I had always wanted to travel but it’s awfully hard to leave home, especially when you’ve got a job, all your friends here and oh yeah, your dear old boyfriend. But now that I’m single, I can go anywhere! The book only reaffirmed that it was a great idea. READ IT.
Tata for now!
